WinRAR is a trialware file archiver utility for Windows, developed by Eugene Roshal of win.rar GmbH. It can create and view archives in RAR or ZIP file formats,[10] and unpack numerous archive file formats. To enable the user to test the integrity of archives, WinRAR embeds CRC32 or BLAKE2 checksums for each file in each archive. WinRAR supports creating encrypted, multi-part, and self-extracting archives.
WinRAR versions 5.70 and newer are safe. If you have an older version of WinRAR, it's vulnerable. This security bug has existed in every version of WinRAR released in the past 19 years. If you have version 5.70 beta 1 installed, that's also safe, but we recommend you install the latest stable version
WinRAR is a Windows-only program. An Android application called "RAR for Android" is also available.[11] Related programs include the command-line utilities "RAR" and "UNRAR"[12] and versions for macOS,[8] Linux, FreeBSD, Windows CE, and MS-DOS.
WinRAR is a file archiver and compression tool used to create (pack) compressed files in the RAR and ZIP file formats. WinRAR.exe launches the WinRAR program. This is not an essential Windows process and can be disabled if known to create problems.
